Function
A comprehensive electrical installation tester used to verify safety, performance, and regulatory compliance of fixed electrical installations in accordance with IEC 60364 and EN 61557 series standards.
Primary functions:
- verification of voltage presence, frequency, and wiring integrity
- measurement of insulation resistance to detect degraded or unsafe cabling
- continuity testing of protective conductors and bonding
- assessment of loop and line impedance to validate fault disconnection conditions
- calculation of prospective fault currents (PEFC / PSC)
- functional testing of RCDs to ensure correct tripping time and current
- measurement of earth electrode resistance
- verification of phase sequence in three-phase systems
Specific applications:
- hospital commissioning: validation of earthing, insulation, and RCD protection before energizing health facilities (e.g. maternity wards, operating theatres).
- generator grounding: Measurement of generator earth electrode resistance using the 3-pole method to ensure safe fault dissipation.
- RCD verification: routine testing of residual current devices in wet or high-risk areas (latrines, kitchens, washing areas) to prevent electric shock.
- cable diagnostics: identification of insulation degradation in underground or ageing cables that can cause nuisance tripping or generator faults.
