CLOXACILLIN

Therapeutic Action

Penicillin antibacterial, active against penicillinase-producing staphylococci

Indications

Impetigo (preferably use cefalexin for this indication)

Antibiotherapy with activity against staphylococci may prevent progression to breast abscess (mastitis).

Instructions for use

Flucloxacillin is preferred to cloxacillin for the same indications due to better oral absorption.

Cloxacillin may be used as an alternative to flucloxacillin in case of supply constraints.
